Amrut

Amrut Distillery was established in 1948 by Shri J.N. Radhakrishna, just a few months after India declared its independence, and build in Bangalore, in the southern part of the country. The family run business produces a whisky in the purest Scottish tradition and proudly proclaims its Indian roots. In 2004, Amrut became the first distillery in history to produce the 100% Indian Single Malt.

Amrut Fusion 50.0%

Jim Murray’s Third Finest Whisky in the World for 2010, Amrut Fusion is distilled from barley from Scotland and India, making this a true fusion of countries.

Nose Heavy, thickly oaked and complex: some curious barley-sugar notes here shrouded in soft smoke. Big, but seductively gentle.
Taste The delivery, though controlled at first, is massive! Then more like con-fusion as that smoke on the nose turns into warming, full blown peat, but it far from gets its own way as a vague sherry trifle note.
Finish A slight struggle here as the mouthfeel gets a bit puffy here with the dry peat and oak; enough molassed sweetness to see the malt through to a satisfying end, though.
