Valtravieso
Ribera del Duero, Spain
Founded on the high-altitude limestone moor of "La Revilla" in the heart of Spain's Ribera del Duero region, Valtravieso planted its first vines in 1983 at about 915 metres above sea level and released its first wines in 1994. Today, under the stewardship of the González Beteré family (who acquired the property in the mid-1990s) and winemaker Ricardo Velasco, the estate works its own vineyards and selects parcels with shallow clay-limestone soils and strong thermal variation to craft fresh, mineral-inflected wines that reflect the unique elevated terroir of the páramo.
