Domäne Wachau
Wachau, Austria
Nestled in the steep, terraced vineyards of the Wachau valley along the Danube in Lower Austria, Domäne Wachau traces its cooperative roots to the 1930s when regional growers banded together under the name Winzergenossenschaft Wachau. Today, the estate unites over 200 small-plot vignerons working parcels often under two hectares each, across some of the region's most celebrated single-vineyard sites such as Achleiten, Loibenberg and Kellerberg. Under the leadership of Roman Horvath MW and Heinz Frischengruber, the focus on organic practices, terraced vineyards and site-specific expression has established Domäne Wachau as a flagship for refined, terroir-driven Grüner Veltliner and Riesling.
